CCML February Membership Meeting

It’s a new year, so it’s time for a new meeting! Please join us on Friday, February 15, at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Library for CCML’s next quarterly meeting.

8:15-9:00           Education program: Lynne Fox will present on the Trip database.  The Trip database is a free clinical search engine. Its primary function is to help clinicians identify the best available evidence with which to answer clinical questions. Its roots are firmly in the world of evidence-based medicine.  Trip assists clinicians by focusing on useful evidence-based resources, organizing presentation of results source and type, and allowing users to log in to set up automated searches, save favorites and share results.

During the session Lynne will discuss the features of Trip, demonstrate search techniques, and allow time to register for an account and practice hands-on with the database.

9:00-9:30           Networking and refreshments

9:30-10:30         Main program: Janet Lee, technical services librarian at Regis University, will speak on her involvement with the establishment of the Segenat Children and Youth Library in Mekelle, Ethiopia. In 2010, Janet devoted her sabbatical from Regis to working to open the library and train staff.  Due to Janet’s commitment, fundraising, and collaboration, Colorado libraries donated 8,000 books that were then added to Segenant’s Library’s collection.

10:30-10:45       Break

10:45-11:45       Business meeting

How do I get to the Health Sciences Library?

The library website has been kind enough to take care of the directions. There’s also information about public transportation (ah … the smug feeling you get when you protect Earth) and bike parking (if you’re brave/crazy enough to ride your bike when it’s three degrees).

That’s a big library. Where’s the meeting?

Lynne will lead the education session in Teaching Lab 2, while the networking, main program, and business meeting will be held in the library Reading Room.

Where should I park?

For information about convenient parking, please visit the Health Sciences Library website.
