COLORADO COUNCIL OF MEDICAL LIBRARIANS

COMMUNICATION / COOPERATION / COLLABORATION

HISTORY

In 1957, fourteen metropolitan Denver librarians sought to provide a forum for cooperation among medical libraries. The group became Colorado Council of Medical Librarians (CCML). Initial efforts included preparation of a union list of serials. The membership increased during the 1960's, representing a broader geographical base, and has grown with members throughout Colorado and Wyoming. Library Science students have obtained Internships, Practicums, and paid positions through their membership connections.

Council Quotes [aka CQ] was a primary source of information contributed by CCML members, for CCML members.  It was a forum for event announcements and opportunities of interest to Colorado’s medical librarians, and included postings that detailed council activities and highlighted member achievements. Originally, Council Quotes was a print newsletter delivered to members through the US Mail. CQ went through several evolutions including an online-only newsletter, eventually assuming a web log format that was discontinued in 2017.

Archives exist of the Council Quotes newsletter and previous CCML websites.
