8:30-9:20: Main Program, Lilia Cervantes, MD
Dr. Cervantes will speak to us about her nationally recognized journey to improve outcomes for undocumented patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). After watching a former undocumented Latina patient with ESRD struggle with emergency-only hemodialysis and ultimately die, Dr. Cervantes began to research and advocate on this issue. Her persistence led to the Colorado Statehouse, where in 2049, ESRD was included in the definition of 'emergency medical condition' giving undocumented patients access to standard outpatient hemodialysis.

Colorado State Refugee Health Coordinator
Carol has been a public health advocate for more than 30 years and is refugee health coordinator for the Colorado Refugee Services Program at the Colorado Department of Human Services. As coordinator, she manages four medical screening sites and a health promotion program for refugees as well as a CDC grant that monitors health trends among refugees. Carol's interest in public health stems from her work as a volunteer with AMIGOS del las Americas, a cultural immersion and service leadership organization with volunteers who design and lead public health projects in Latin America.

Due to city construction the entrance to our campus has moved to 14th Ave. (the Colfax entrance is CLOSED). For parking, visitors should enter via 14th and make use of the free valet parking service. No tipping required.
The Molly Blank building is located to the right of the main entrance. Head directly there and someone will be waiting to let you in (doors are badge operated). Maps and directions available here.
